Project: Got Service? Have You Got Some Service in YOU?
This year, Project: One World United is proud to announce Project: Got Service?, an innovative service learning project established with the goal to educate the younger generation about the problems facing their community and the world.
Assignment:
Project: One World United's mission is to raise awareness and develop solutions to increase access to education for all children regardless of race, gender, sex, ethnicity, and/or economic well-being.How can you relate this to your community? By using a documentary film, photo collage, an essay, a poem, or an art form, tell us what you have done during your years at high school to make your community a better place (you do not specifically have to relate your art form to education).
Guidelines:
The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The 2nd place reward will receive a $100 check and a gift card. The 3rd place winner will receive a $50 check and a gift card. All participants will receive an award certificate for participation. The top ten projects will be displayed on the Project: One World United website to show the public the incredible service that exists within the Chantilly community! A showcase of the projects will be held at the award ceremony in January.
Eligibility:
In order to be eligible, participants must be full-time student at Chantilly High School. Students can work alone or in a team (maximum of 2 students) to answer the question in a creative way.
How to Enter & Important Dates:
This project will run from September 8th to December 15th. All students interested in participating should register online by clicking on the APPLY HERE button below by September 30th. All submissions will be evaluated by college professors two weeks prior to the award ceremony on January 14th, 2012.

- Documentary Film:
- Submission may be through email via a YouTube link or a CD. (please write link for youtube posting on your 1-page explanation)
- Duration must be between 3 – 5mins max.
- Must be accompanied by a 1-page explanation of how this relates to the assignment
- Photo Collage:
- Posters may not be more than 3 ft by 2 ft.
- Must be accompanied by a 1-page explanation of how this relates to the assignment.
- Essay:
- Must be 2-3 pages in length single spaced
- Times New Roman 12 font
- 1” page borders
- include cover page with a catchy title, your name, and grade, and anything else you want to add!
- Poem/Song:
- Must be accompanied by a 1-page explanation of how this relates to the assignment.
- song format must be an Mp3 and must be either on a cd or put up on youtube (please write link for youtube posting on your 1-page explanation)
- poems can be handwritten
- Art Form:
- any art form not specifically addressed in the other categories can be used in this category
- Object should not be more than 5 lbs.
- Must be accompanied by a 1-page explanation of how this relates to the assignment.
- All submissions must meet registration and submission deadlines.
- All submissions must meet all guidelines stated above.
- To participate, students must have done some sort of service for the community.
- Submissions must not contain inappropriate or controversial content.
- You must cite all Sources that are not your own in MLA format and attach the paper to the end of the 1-page statement
- All participants must be enrolled students at Chantilly High School in Fairfax County.
